Katie Ten Hagen Raises Celiac Awareness!

•October 9, 2008 • 1 Comment

For her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, decided to raise awareness
about celiac disease! She ran a stand at Elementary School’s International Night,
as well as a booth at the local flea market. At her stand she educated the
public about celiac by handing out informational cookbooks! They provided her
visitors with a handy reference of not only gluten-free recipes, but of general
information about celiac. Katie enjoyed the experience so much she wants to
continue to do the booths on her own. Thanks for spreading the word about
celiac disease Katie! You are a celiac awareness rockstar!

Celiac Goes Platinum: Volunteers Raise Awareness at Digestive Disease Week

•June 3, 2008 • 2 Comments

Celiac was the hot topic at Digestive Disease Week 2008 in San Diego this past May thanks to NFCA’s fabulous volunteers! Julie Neimark, Christi Bonslaver, Samantha Wuerhmann and Rachel Bielik spent the week handing out information on the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness and resources for newly diagnosed celiac patients. They spoke with thousands of doctors from around the world about celiac, what advice they give their patients and what life is like for those with celiac. Because of their work to raise awareness among this community, these doctor’s patients will quickly discover that being diagnosed with celiac is not the end of the world. Thank you Julie, Christi, Samantha and Rachel, for helping celiac reach Platinum status!
